Low Flatbed Semi-trailer

A lowbed semi-trailer, also known as a low-pressure flatbed or low-bed truck, is a specialized transport vehicle designed for transporting oversized, overweight, and non-detachable cargo. Its most notable feature is its extremely low cargo bed (typically between 500mm and 1.2 meters), maximizing compliance with legal height restrictions and enabling the transport of oversized and overweight equipment. It is an essential piece of equipment for large-scale logistics (project logistics), heavy equipment transportation, and construction projects.

Main Structures and Features

1. Low Deck

This is its core feature. A gooseneck-style towing structure and a specialized suspension system (such as hydraulic independent suspension) minimize the cargo bed height, typically between 0.6 and 0.9 meters.

2. Gooseneck

The towing pin is positioned higher than the main cargo bed, creating a curved structure resembling a gooseneck. This design ensures a high connection height to the tractor while allowing the main cargo bed to "embed" within it, thereby reducing the loading surface height.

3. Various Structures

Fixed: The cargo bed remains immovable, offering a simple and sturdy structure. Spliced/Telescopic: The longitudinal beams can be extended or retracted, changing the length of the platform to accommodate cargo of varying lengths.

Hydraulic/Hydraulic Axle Truck: This is the most advanced type. The entire platform is supported by multiple independently controlled hydraulic axles, allowing the platform to be raised and lowered, swiveled left and right, and even steered independently. It is commonly used to transport the heaviest cargo.

4. Ramps/Beaver Tails: A foldable ramp at the rear of the vehicle allows heavy equipment (such as excavators and bulldozers) to access the vehicle using its own power. The ramp can be folded in two or three positions to reduce the slope when folded.

5. Suspension System

Leaf spring suspension: Used for standard lowbed trucks.

Air suspension: Adjusts the vehicle's height for easier loading and unloading and for navigating uneven surfaces.

Hydraulic independent suspension: Used for heavy-duty axle trucks, each axle can be raised and lowered independently, allowing the vehicle to navigate uneven construction sites while maintaining a level load.
